Adolph Kiefer was the US Backstroke Gold Medal winner in the 1936 Olympics. He and his company continue to supply pools and pool products. I am fortunate enough to have Mr. Kiefer ask me to help choose products for his aquatic fitness and therapy catalog.

I started the Aquatic Exercise Association in 1985. Many of you probably helped me with that company. Angie Proctor and Julie See took over AEA in 1993 and have done wonderful things with it. Since 1992, this online retailer of aquatic exercise and swimming products is the distributor for most Ruth Sova products. AquaGear also sells an assortment of Aquatic Therapy, Rehabilitation, Swimming and Water Exercise Equipment.
ATRI

I started the Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute in 1993 with Vicki Chossek who managed it capably until she took a “real” job in 1996. Vicki and I asked my sister, Anne, to run it. Anne sold the company she had and took over management of ATRI. Since Anne lives in Florida, we moved ATRI there.
DSL
I started a company in 1976 that produces all my videos, books, etc. It’s called DSL. It does wholesale sales to catalogs and bookstores.

I started The Fitness Firm in 1976. Phyllis DeCoste, who now owns the company, and I still get together for lunch and still work together.

The Jalkanen Foundation
Before my Dad died, he and Mom set up a charitable foundation. He died before we could get it funded so I’m often available to speak in trade for a donation to the foundation.

Membership is offered to agencies, organizations, associations and business entities only, not individuals. We encourage non-profits, corporations, partnerships, LLC’s, agencies, associations, institutions, consultants, etc. to become members. Members must have an interest in aquatics. That might include construction (swimming pool), manufacture (equipment), teaching (sailing, SCUBA), competition (syncro, surfing), health (therapy, fitness), conservation (Park and Rec, Govt), boating (cruises to rubber tube rafting), Safety (every aspect), publications (books, magazines), pharmaceuticals (waterproof dressings), and many more.

Potentials Unlimited Corporation
Vicki Chossek and I started a company in 1993 called Potential Unlimited Corporation which we lovingly refer to as PUC (pronounced puke). I use PUC for my speaking and consulting.
